FONTAGRO Announces Its 2016 Call for Proposals for Innovation Projects to Improve Value Chains and Market Access for Family Farming

    The Call for Proposals will finance up to $1.6 million in projects to support technological, organizational, or institutional innovations to improve family farming income.

    (Washington, D.C., April 15, 2016) Today FONTAGRO announced the launch of its 2016 Call for Proposals for the submittal of projects on “Innovations to improve family farming through value chains that facilitate market access.”

    The call for proposals is carried out with FONTAGRO’s own resources and it will finance projects for a total of $1.6 million. It will support innovation platforms formed by public and private stakeholders from two or more member countries, working together to promote technological, organizational, or institutional innovations to improve family farming performance, income, and market access.

    FONTAGRO supports family farming research and innovation through several cooperation schemes, including calls for proposals. This 2016 Call for Proposals is aimed at promoting the development of value chains within a framework of equity and sustainability, in accordance with FONTAGRO’s strategic guidelines.

    These are some examples of successful projects financed and/or acknowledged by FONTAGRO in previous calls for proposals and contests on value-chain development:

    • Recovering Ancestral Varieties: Native Potato Innovation in Ecuador. Watch the video.

    The deadline to submit proposals is June 28, 2016, at 1 PM (EDT).
